The Hollidaysburg Area School District offers voluntary drug and alcohol testing for students in grades 7-12.
The program is one of many steps our district has taken to improve the safety and well being of our students.
In recent years, we have installed security cameras in our schools, conducted periodic locker searches, used drug-sniffing dogs to search schools, and participated with state and local police in the use of metal detectors for periodic checks of students entering the schools.
The major goal of the new policy is to help prevent students from using drugs and alcohol. Students who test positive will be helped, not punished.
Students who enroll in the program will be tested on a random basis. The frequency of testing will be somewhat determined by the number of students who volunteer for the program.
All screenings will be conducted by our nurses. A mailing will go home each year with permission forms.
Please sign up for this valuable program! If you need extra forms or have questions, please contact the school nurse at the student's building.
